A Day In The Life

The second studio brief results in an editorial set of images. The task is to make three consistent illustrations of differing dimensions (200 X 200mm, 105 X 200mm, 290 X 105mm) using two colours plus stock.

My article is titled: 'The Age Of Loneliness Is Killing Us'. It touches on the digital age and how as a species we are drifting apart due to social changes and technological advance.

I began working on the brief by reading through the article thoroughly and making notes. I noted points made in the article and quoted words and phrases that I felt were poignant. I followed this by sketching out a few roughs playing with some of the highlighted points in the article.

Roughing began with the intention to illustrate loneliness and isolation with a hint of digital age. I felt that all of these elements were of high priority in making visual links with the article. I went of track with the fighting dogs rough. I decided to work on a quote from the article: "Dog eat dog world". This developed in a confusing manor and resulted in rabid, bionic dogs fighting in a pit of money. Both Matt and I agreed that this idea strayed too far from the article.
