About The Author - Linocut

Taking on advice from my progress tutorial I took to Lino cutting. Never having worked with Lino before I was rather disconcerted as to how I could go about making pictures with it. So I just had a go.

I drew this very (intentionally, I promise) basic Polyphant, from 'The Meaning of Liff', Straight onto the Lino. Cutting out the snake was almost fun, and i'm impressed with the quality of line that can be achieved. Of course this is a crap image - using only acrylic paint to print (although I think some of the textures have value) and from here I'll go on to try something more complicated.

Taking the colour away also really did something for me. However, I gather that this brief is largely about colour within printing methods. Colour has been my enemy and I'm sure working with lots of it will be challenging. I plan to continue to learn  print methods in colour as I have here in an attempt to overcome my 'Chromophobia' (fear of colour apparently).
