My sting so far consists of the following:
So far this has really tested my patience. After Effects is my nemesis and I never want to use it ever again. I cant get my head around all of the different things happening in the composition at once. As I want to make the animation too a pice of music I thought putting the audio into After Effects would help, this only confused me further so I played the songs on my iPod as I tweaked.
I started with the 'Infected Mushroom' track however I wasn't really feeling the relationship between it and the image. 'Default' by 'Atoms For Peace' worked a lot better. There's a great tempo that the eye is able to bounce from side to side up and down to, feels real spacey 'n all.
The texture is whats really exciting me about this work now. The almost static around the eye brings it to life and the backdrop texture is taken from one of my favorite screen prints - looks like the Northern Lights or something! I always considered animation to be a very digital process and, although moving, very much lifeless in most cases. But putting my analogue textures to use has been a bit of an eye opener.
