10 X 10 X 10

As a means to warm up for the year ahead during the summer I completed the project 10 X 10 X 10. Each image is a response to something that I experienced during my summer break.

I worked full time in a kitchen during the summer so the majority of my responses are based on events that happened at work or my journey to and fro.

Something that tasted good:
I decided to draw an experience that ended in a taste of smoked haddock. I was slapped across the mouth with a raw smoked fish on the morning of the day in question and spent the rest of that day with tasting/smelling and feeling rather fishy.

Something you heard:
Whilst on breaks at work I sat outside and working where I did on the broads meant there was plenty of wildlife around for me to listen to. I have draw what I could hear swans - their howling squarks were mocking of my short breaks, hence their rather dark representation.

Something you have discovered:
Tiramsu is something I made on a daily basis at work. The desserts were put into glass cuboids. I have used these glasses in an almost architectural fashion to form a representation of the tiramsu world I had become immersed in by the end of the summer.

Something that made you happy:
The examples given for this section were weird, one being descriptive of  a lizard and another a bike ride. The lizard one made me laugh so decided to draw a lizard on a bicycle of sorts.

Something you have been thinking about:
During my summer I saw only one film at the cinema, being the new planet of the apes film. I found the story to be lacking a little however I found it visually interesting and some of the characters and monkey architecture really got me excited. After the film I felt very primal and envious of the monkey people's raw power. Since I have started eating more nuts/bananas and climb trees on a more regular basis.

Something beautiful:
My journeys too and from work consisted of a short 5 mile bike ride each way on a road crossing through only small hamlets, woodland and fields. I made this journey most days of my summer and came across a whole host of beautiful wildlife. The most memorable of which was an owl that I came met on a dark cycle home, the owl flew alongside me and formed a moment that was indescribably poignant.

Some where you found yourself:
My only elongated period of time off work during the summer was a four day break at Centreparks with 13 of my friends. I was against the idea of going to Centreparks as I see it as a commercial place designed for those without the imagination necessary to design their own holiday. After a testing debate we decided to go to Centreparks due to its convenience. It was whilst there that I realised it did not matter where I was as long as I liked the company of the people I was with.  My drawing was designed to flatter Centreparks building a picture of a more beautiful place discovered.
