The first visual language session looked at sketchbooks and how to use them. I was given a choice of visual subjects to work around. I chose Deep Sea Diving as I can see a lot of scope for interesting images in an underwater environment.
My first task was to complete four pages of a sketchbook in response to my visual subject - Deep Sea Diving. Matt explained how we could bend the brief to draw almost anything we wanted. I made up a vague story to draw some characters around, a story involving costal erosion - simply the fat people of earth sink when earth becomes aquatic and are forced to evolve. They also have an underwater war of sorts for unexplained reasons.
I am pleased with the consistency of my drawings however I worked solely in pencil. On reflection I should have varied the medium for the sake of experimentation. It may have also been beneficial to draw from a different angle, perhaps even putting the characters into a scene.
