One Week Book - Development

Day two on this project involved the group working individually to work on concepts before coming together and comparing ideas. We all decided on colours before we began making it easy for people to consider how the resolved work might look. Blue was chosen for the sky and grey for the boring locations we visited. The two colours together would work rather harmoniously intentionally bringing little contrast and what could be considered excitement to the piece.

I liked the idea of the trolley troll story however the group agreed that it was highly limited in content. I also worked on a character cleaning a car whilst exciting things happened in the background. I thought that repetition of the template character could be interesting.

As a group we decided to work on the theme of a worker in a boring car park. We named him Kenny. Problems arose around consistency and we discussed how best to work on the designs for the book. We decided to each work in our own tone of voice assuming we were each capable of defining Kenny. I did however alter the way I wanted to work in order to work more consistently with how my peers were working as I thought the overall result might look better. Also being my first time screen printing I had to think about drawing in a different way so I decided to keep my work simple.

Drawing this I planned to make use of both our colours as well as white. I transferred the image's two different colours (both represented by black) onto two separate pages in preparation for the screen printing session.
