Following the briefing and considering how research could be continued at home over the Christmas break my initial ideas revolved around hidden tunnels.
As a hobby of sorts I 'Urbex' (urban exploration - discovering and photographing abandoned architecture). It is rumoured/know that Leeds has multiple old tunnels beneath the city centre. My home city - Norwich is riddled with old chalk mines that go deep under the entire city. Having previously explored the mines in Norwich - exploring something similar in Leeds appealed to me. Looking into tunnels online I found only rumours, this was encouraging however as it gave me the opportunity to explore for myself. I read through many forums and collected a number of physical starting points for me to visit. I decided to visit at least two if these places on my first day of research, Kirkstall abbey and the Dark Arches in Leeds city centre.
