Strengths:
Aesthetically comments praised the boldness of my work, it standing out is something I'm happy with. Inverting the colours using Illustrator paid off. Good composition was also mentioned a few times, I was apprehensive on this considering my use of dead space.
Weaknesses:
Nobody seemed to understand any of the links to cities. Even the most obvious being the cockroach against the 'big apple' didn't seem to have effect. The wreath intended to represent Rome, Triangles - The pyramids in a formation in Giza and the rats worked with the small section of London underground map. Unfortunately none of this came seemed to translate.
The other outstanding weakness is consistency, working in Illustrator for so long on the insects and seagull I ran out of time and had to make use of part of my rat vector made previously. Admittedly this drawing was built differently and doesn't work well within the set.
This brief has been highly valuable to me and my practice. By the end I feel i'd really got to grips with Illustrator. Making images in this way is still not my preference however should I ever need / want to work with vectors I now have a stronger understanding of the software.
Learning from my feedback I need to look at how I manage my time. I also need to think differently in terms of my development to finished work step. Had I spent more time on the concepts - looking into what symbols people may associate easily with the pests/ vermin, my work may have been more successful.
Having said that I think my work challenged the brief a bit, so screw people that don't associate laurels with Rome.
