About The Author - Screen Print

Having had such fun in the second print workshop I was straight back in the print room whilst my screen was still going. I learnt that the technique i'd been using is called marbling.

Looking at the first prints I decided to go for something with more contrast. The composition was also came into more consideration. Last session I found that the more offset prints looked a lot better, I experimented with this.

'Marbling' is highly suited to this brief. The effect it produces looks intergalactic and the intensity of colour is extraordinary. I've never worked in any way like this before and I think that's why I find it incredibly exciting.

Scale is what worries me about this method. These prints are not nearly as big as I would expect my finals to be, so there's a risk that on a bigger scale it would not have the same impact. Not to mention that I am limited to two colours by the brief.

Toward the end of my printing session the screen blocked after all the weird mixed of colour I'd forced on it. I got a few prints like this. I love the texture and might experiment with its use for positives.
