Stanley Kubrick's take on the story really did not gel with me. I found the film increasingly difficult to watch. Aloud the language is just really odd and I found it more comical than in the book, humour is defiantly not something I want to put into my work for this brief.
The violence is also watered down. The violence in the book is what left me with such a dark impression, the film just didn't deliver the same disturbing impact.
I don't think the aesthetics were strongly reflective of the book either, for me it just wasn't how I see a futuristic Russia. One thing I did pick up from the film was the costumes, the masks in particular. The masks are a real image of darkness - sinister. I plan on using the mask in my design.
