At the last meeting my questions were full answered on how I should be designing the characters and fish. It's a lot simpler than I had first thought. I must make 'rigable characters', basically images where each moving part is on a different layer of Photoshop. I was given an example of this man riding a bike. His separate layers consist of; head, body, separate arms, hands, separate legs and feet. It is also important that include no sharp angles in the moving parts.
The animators also collated these 'mood boards' to give me heads up on the tone of voice they had in mind. This was very helpful. However as explained to the group I'm being forced to draw in a certain way - given limitations and thats fine but I my work may look more experimental than I'd like it as I'll be working in a way I have never before.
The graphic designer decided that as long as we made sure colour palettes didn't collide we could make our work as we wanted as the characters and fish needed to stand out against the background - different possibly being better.
Having planned our advert meticulously at the meeting the animators made these storyboards. These informed me on what I needed to draw and differing angles of each.
Moving on next I will start roughs for the characters in time for the next meeting, after making revisions.
