OUIL603 - The Lifting Tower

This brief really appeals to me, the result being an animation with a lot of freedom gives me the opportunity really make it my own. The scale of the projection is also highly motivating, I think seeing my work this big would be amazing. Not to mention the amount of people that would see it.

The very soon deadline for the proposal is good for me as well. Giving me a boost to get my first brief finished (unless am chosen to work further on the project) on the seventh of October, this will be a great start for this module and help me get the ball rolling again after summer.

Thinking forward to the physical work I have some ideas in pursuit of the 'cool', 'original' and 'creative' demands of the brief. I want to make an entirely Linocut and collage based animation with strange and jolty movement taking inspiration from seventies animator Ray Harryhausen.

As discussed in the brief, the window in the lower half of the frame will be an obstacle. I hope to utilise this as the centre point for the animation - perhaps having creatures squeeze from it or make use of it within the projection as a door or mouth or something.

Being a Christmas project I plan to be very aware of corny stereotypes while making something original, festive and work that possibly combined with narrative conveys Christmas time values.
