Feedback from Jimmy on the proposal was positive but not expected. My favoured christmas dragon was to intricate a story line and too dark as a concept and visually for a christmas project. Jimmy did however like my yeti storyboard. He thought that use of this character could work well in more basic animations. Furthermore my penguins storyboard was approved, jimmy explained that we should use a mix of the yeti character and the penguins in different animated sequences.
I was then put with my collaborating team of animators who have ideas on how to move my characters. We decided that as the only illustrator in the team, I was best to design the characters (drawing them appropriately for use in after effects) that they would then take on to animate within different scenes.
The animators then completed some simple storyboards to refine ideas for sequences. As a team we decided that the Yeti and penguin animations will alternate through out and that each scene will show the characters existing in simple winter scenes, dancing, teleporting (through use of the window on the tower) and falling. I allowed the animators to interpret the storyboards as they liked as I felt I'd taken on enough work in the character designs.
