Developing the monkey image further I drew a counterpart and put them in a tree. I like the clear layout of this and can see the bold shape animals working well big scale perhaps as part of an exhibition or event, work that could exist in an educational context.
Varying the scale is also effective. Thinking back to my laser experiments the prospect of cutting a mural in separate pieces then assembling on any wall could be impressive, this way I am only limited by the size of the laser cutter.
Working from here I plan to develop a series of animals with the prospect of producing a large lasercut mural commemorating the existence of the zoo and informing the current inhabitants of hyde park on what was here before terrace housing.
Discussing this project and research with Ben and Theresa we came to the conclusion that this was very interesting and fun information that should be shared. Theresa suggested that I could develop this brief with the outcome being a proposal for an educational exhibition, targeting the Museum and an appropriate gallery / exhibition space. I like this idea but will need stronger imagery and a better idea of how my laser cut figures will look upon completion, before I propose such an event.
