Working from a composition amongst my roughs I've started to develop my futuristic characters of satirical impending doom. This first design is a Lino print cut to replicate the lines drawn in my sketchbook. I'm really happy with the aesthetic against the trees that were drawn and scanned in.
The brief requires a 1 - 4 page comic, putting a lot of time into the development and carving of the different characters means that I aim to make a single page A3 size image. The first cut was very time consuming as working with Lino I'm used to simple shape (my normal use of Lino is pretty simple). I hope that my continued practice with the further creatures I've designed will make the process a bit faster.
I've drawn up the next two creatures, one crocodile thing and a strange wolf, the crudeley drawn slugs are just spacial plans for filling the gaps. Drawing the strange and perhaps deformed creatures has been fun so far, I'm drawing with the Lino cut in mind however, and as confidence grows I add more detail to each design making it difficult and very time consuming for my future self.
