All the Lino cut elements of the comic are now complete. I found this a very cumbersome by the end, spending hours on a single Lino cut brings me to question the practicalities: if I'm too slow with the media then how can I effectively use it within my practice? Recently I've found it more productive and fun to collage old Lino cuts and printed textures to build images, maybe less Lino is the way forward. Until now I thought of it as the media my practice was starting to revolve around however I feel that it's just the roughly printed aesthetic I strive for, can this be achieved without Lino?
Spending a lot of time on one image drives me slightly mad and as I've found before I get bored. Individually I quite like some of the creatures and the textures achieved through print. However this project has started to take to long for my liking. All that remains for me to do now is assemble the cuts into a positive for screen printing as well as draw an apply the figures in peril and details such as trees.
As a comic the image also needs a caption appropriate to the story I'm trying to tell. This will be hand written and added to the positive before screen print also. My ideas for the caption at the moment are rather loose, I need something that sarcastically warns of the fictional future.
