Initially is a brief that revolves around typology. I have been tasked with designing an A1 poster consisting of twenty six images - each being representative of a different letter of the alphabet.
A finished poster must consist of an A1 sheet of white paper with twenty six monochrome images. The drawings must be either vignette or spots as well as being completely hand made i.e. no digital processes are to be involved.
To begin with I generated ideas for themes using lists. I decided to explore themes such as; Fish, Metal Music, Nasty stuff, Invasion, Fear, Anger, Conceptual Characters, Weird Things, Religious / Mythical Icons and Things That Annoy Me. The objective is to complete twenty six roughs for each theme.
Beginning with the letter A, I produced a rough for each theme. Thus far Im keen on the simpler drawings for example my 'Attic' sketch includes more narrative and illustrative value than say the 'Abominable Snowman'.
Drawing my roughs out like this, amongst different themes, helps me to keep open minded. A concern I have with this however, is that consistency within the themes could become weak.
